Computers, Printing, and Wi-Fi


The library offers free access to the internet and the Microsoft Office Suite, which includes Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Powerpoint on our 9 public access computers. Each computer has a USB and audio ports. Personal devices (camera, phone, media card with card reader) may be used with our computers, but patron assumes all risk when doing so. Patrons may bring headphones or purchase them at the library. Sound must be kept at a level that does not disturb staff or patrons of the library. 

The library has Computer Use and Behavior policies that must be followed by all users, including those using wireless. 

The library has a computerized "waiting list" that can be used by patrons to reserve a computer when they are all occupied. Each session is 30 minutes, with a maximum of 2 sessions per day. Additional time may be allowed based on availability and at the discretion of the library staff. 

Printing is available from both the library's computers and personal devices. Printing charges are 15¢ for a black and white page 50¢ for a color page.


Wells Public Library is pleased to offer free high speed wireless internet that can be accessed from smartphones, tablets, and laptop computers. The library cannot guarantee all equipment will work with our network.

Where can I access WiFi at the library?

Connection to WiFi should be available anywhere in the building, and also directly outside the building.

How can I connect to WiFi at the library?

For Phones and Tablets: Have device turned on either in the library or just outside. Click on “Settings” and then choose “WiFi”. From the list of available wireless networks, select “Wells Library Public WiFi”. This should open an internet browser. If it does not, open an internet browser manually. When the internet browser is open, it will automatically display the library’s WiFi login page. If it does not automatically redirect, type the following into the brower's address bar: 192.168.2.1:8080. Create a unique ID/password and click “Accept”.

For laptop computers: Have device turned on either in the library or just outside. In the lower right-hand corner of the screen, click on device’s wireless internet icon. From the list of available wireless networks, select “Wells Library Public WiFi”. This should open an internet browser. If it does not, open an internet browser manually. When the internet browser is open, it will automatically display the library’s WiFi login page. If it does not automatically redirect, type the following into the browser's address bar: 192.168.2.1:8080. Create a unique ID/password and click “Accept”.

Is my information safe while using wireless?

Information is not protected by our wireless hardware. Some websites offer encryption, which is one form of security. Users accept all risks when using the library's network, including accessing or transmitting sensitive business or personal information.

Patrons use the library’s computer resources at their own risk. Loss of a patron’s time, work or property shall not be the responsibility of the library for any reason. The library staff does not provide in-depth support for computer users on a walk-in basis and may not have staff available to assist patrons with in-depth computer queries, such as setting up e-mail accounts.
